Placement Superpower

They sent us a gem!

Recently Kudosee had the exciting privilege of taking on a new tech grad during a student
placement, (as we have done in the past): Laura Luo, a Junior Software Developer who studied
Object Oriented Software Development in SAIT. She found Kudosee through a SAIT career center
coordinator.

Well hats off to them, because they sent us a gem!

Here is a little about the program: “The Object Oriented Software Developer (OOSD) program is
designed to provide you with the knowledge and practice you need to develop solid software
development skills in minimal time. This program takes you from introductory concepts to advanced
techniques in only 32 weeks.” 1

And further: “After 24 weeks of formal instruction, you will put your knowledge and skills to work in a
mandatory eight-week work practicum.” 2

Hidden Resource Superpower

New inspired tech grads are a hidden resource superpower. Working with Laura prompted me to
investigate other Software Developer studies available to the Calgary Tech Ecosystem. There is
an abundance!

Speaking with Margo Purcell of InceptionU, I learned that her four offered programs operate
similarly to a complete tech office environment. Where students learn while they innovate, and
bring their own ideas and talents to the table. Working in various groups, working in diverse
situations, the students have the opportunity to acquire team building/working, in real life office
scenarios. You can check it out at https://www.inceptionu.com/

I was also able to inquire about CDI college. They use practicums as part of their IT course
development. Check out what they offer in cyber security and web and mobile applications:

The list can go on and on. Bow Valley College, AOL, Institute of IT Training…..etc.
You need only to search the web to find them!

Placements. Practicums. Practice

So with all the training going on I urge you to tap into this hidden resource superpower! Thank you
Laura Luo for proving that student placements work! Hire a student today
